Replacing You

You look so young in that picture
It’s quite funny seeing you smile
Because the last memory I have of you
You were crying
You had your life in your hands
You said I was worthless and you walked out the door
It’s the last memory that I have of you
I didn’t think that I would remember you some way else

I wouldn’t have come across this picture
If it wasn’t for the fact that my new love
Said I needed to clean out my life
So I did and I came across it
But it has no meaning towards me
Because I’ve replaced you
Replacing you was easy
Because she is the best

We were happy once
Well that was once
Now you are just a memory

Replacing you
Finding someone better
Someone who makes me happier
Making my heart feel alive
Not feeling ashamed of who I am
And knowing that the girl I’m with
Is nothing like you

You tore me down
You shared my flaws with the world
I never met your standards
But no one can ever meet yours
It’s a list of demands that no one can give you
So you have fun with that
I’m replacing you with someone with fewer demands

I know that you wish me misery
You want to be the better one here
But it isn’t happening is it
I’ve been happy
My heart can finally beat again
It doesn’t need your approval anymore
I’m free like a bird
I’m happier without you
So this little photo doesn’t mean anything
Replacing it with a picture of my new relationship
You were just a learning experience

Replacing you
Finding someone better
Someone who makes me happier
Making my heart feel alive
Not feeling ashamed of who I am
And knowing that the girl I’m with
Is nothing like you

I in small sense wish I could know how you are doing
Wondering if you got all your demands
Or if you were disappointed
It doesn’t matter to me
I look at the new love
I know replacing you
Actually it’s not replacing you
Because she is nothing like you

She loves me for me
She means the world to me
I’m not replacing you
I’m falling for the soul mate
So hopefully you find what you’re looking for
But now you’re just a memory
And a learning experience
